Stop Dating Your Mom
When I look around today I see that a lot of men seem to be dating their mother. This can be seen in the successful sitcoms. The long suffering wife is cast alongside a buffoonish man who would be lost without her. You see it in Homer Simpson, Ray Barone and Phil Dunphy. These men have all appear to have married their mom.
I wish I could say that phenomenon was restricted to TV alone. I really do. But it seems that this is the case in a majority of relationships. Men and women alike seem to think that in order for a man to settle down he needs a woman to help him do it.
That view is an extremely childish one. I have lived alone for years and somehow the meals get cooked, the house gets cleaned and the chores get done. Men have accepted this view of themselves as helpless and women are all too ready to step in and fix a guy up to meet their standards.
Nothing but frustration and resentment comes from dating someone who wants to micromanage your life. Just imagine this for a moment: a woman goes out shopping for a car. She goes to all of the car dealerships and she finally finds one that has the color and features she likes so she buys it. She’s very excited while driving the car home but once she gets it home she starts thinking about how to turn the car into an airplane.
This is what I see in a lot of relationships. The minute the woman buys a car, she tries to turn it into an airplane. If she wanted an airplane, why didn’t she just buy one? Whose fault is it when the woman gets frustrated because she can’t turn the car into an airplane?
Wouldn’t life be much simpler if you stayed single until you found a woman who accepted you as you are? Why put up with the constant tinkering. Clearly, if someone is trying to change you they don’t like who you are. You should set them free so they can find someone more to their liking.
If you have things that you need to work on, determine to fix them yourself. Do not let someone else come into your life and control the way that you will develop as a person.
